Jason’s Countryside Experience
Wednesday, December 11 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
When we travel, it’s easy to get caught up in visiting famous landmarks and historical sites, but that often means missing out on what’s right in front of you: the local people, their culture, and way of life.
That’s where Jason’s Countryside Experience comes in. Instead of taking you to tourist attractions, Jason guides you through the rural villages of Kampot, showing how ordinary Cambodians live and see the world, with visits to villages, farms, pagodas, and more.
Jason’s passion for Cambodia is evident as he explains the social and society structures of village life, how their hierarchical patronage society works, how Buddhism, Hinduism and Animism are blended into their daily routines. He’ll describe the differences in how Buddhism is practice in the city vs. the country, how your average subsistence rice farming family goes about their day, and explain how recent history has shaped Cambodian society.
All while you take slow and easy bike rides through the amazing rural scenery of rice fields and wooden houses.
The highlight of the tour is the stop at a local family’s home, where they treat you to an authentic home-cooked Cambodian meal in their 100-year old traditional home.
Cambodia has long been one of the lesser-known countries in Southeast Asia. Jason’s tour will open your eyes to how fascinating Cambodia really is.
The tour leaves at 9am, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and gets back between 3-4pm
