ACD Homestay – More Than a Room: A Kampot Homestay That Gives Back

As a tourist, it’s often hard to connect with the locals. Our interactions with them are often limited to shop keepers, hotel staff and tuktuk drivers. ACD Homestay offers more than just a place to sleep — it’s a chance to stay with a local family and contribute to the community.

The homestay is run by Mr. Sothy, the founder and director of the Chumkriel Language School NGO. For over two decades, he has worked to support impoverished families, providing their children with access to education and helping to build homes and schools throughout the community.

You’ll get the chance to stay with Mr. Sothy and his family — all of whom speak excellent English, even his children. Depending on the package you choose, you’ll have the opportunity to head to the market and help prepare a family meal, spend time at the local school he runs, or join a guided tour through the local countryside.

Best of all, 20% of all proceeds from the homestay go directly to the NGO. You’re not only gaining a genuine cultural experience — you’re also helping build a better future for the village you’ll be staying in.

ACD Homestay is located just a few kilometers from downtown Kampot, so you’ll be close to all the local activities.
